Zurich expands broker wellbeing support with free virtual GP service

Zurich UK has launched a free 24/7 virtual GP service for partner brokers and their employees as it expands its wellbeing offering through its Club Blue programme.
The new service, delivered in partnership with HealthHero, gives members unlimited access to online GP consultations, medical advice, prescriptions and referral letters around the clock. The insurer said the initiative is designed to help brokers strengthen employee wellbeing while improving access to healthcare at no additional cost.
The launch coincides with the third anniversary of Zurich Club Blue, which was established in 2023 to provide learning, development and wellbeing support for insurance brokers.
According to Zurich, the programme supported more than 160 UK broker members during 2025, delivering more than 6,700 hours of learning and development focused on professional qualifications and leadership training.
The insurer said the enhanced wellbeing offering reflects growing concern about the impact of poor workforce health on employers. It cited Office for National Statistics data showing sickness absence accounts for 148.81 million lost working days each year in the UK, while Sir Charlie Mayfield’s Keep Britain Working review estimates poor workplace health costs employers around £85bn annually.
Jacqui Kelly, Head of Sales and Distribution at Zurich UK, said the insurer wanted to make healthcare more accessible for broker employees.
“Brokers are the heartland of our industry and so much more. They are people building businesses, supporting clients, and navigating constant change. As their world evolves, we’re right there with them. Through Zurich Club Blue, we’re strengthening our support, so brokers can truly thrive both today and in the future.”
She added: “At Zurich, we believe that behind every successful business is a team of people who should feel supported and able to perform at their best. That’s why we’re making it easier to access the right health support at the right time. By adding physiotherapy and dietitian services, we’re helping tackle issues early, so small problems don’t become bigger ones.
“When you consider that 148 million working days are lost each year to sickness absence in the UK, and poor workplace health costs employers around £85bn annually, this isn’t just about numbers, it’s about people, livelihoods and businesses staying strong.”
The announcement reflects a wider trend among employers and organisations to invest in preventative health support and improve access to primary care as part of their workplace wellbeing strategies, particularly as businesses seek to reduce sickness absence and support employee retention.
