Aviva urges employers to clarify rehab and sick-pay support to aid morale and retention

Aviva is warning that although 84 per cent of employees know some form of rehabilitation support exists, just 38 per cent fully understand what’s available. Clearer communication, the insurer says, can boost morale, return-to-work speed and retention.
Its research, based on a June 2025 survey of 1,235 UK employees, found that 44 per cent believe clearer policies would raise morale, 40 per cent say it would help speed up their return to work, and 39 per cent expect it to help productivity.
The study also revealed that 79 per cent of workers would be more likely to stay with an employer that offered clearly communicated rehabilitation and sick-pay policies.
Aviva is aligning its advice with the Government’s Keep Britain Working agenda. It recommends that employers of all sizes adopt transparent vocational rehab and return-to-work arrangements, either through sector standards or voluntary frameworks.
