The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) has received £46,250 from NHS Charities Together to launch a Neurodiversity Wellbeing Project designed to support staff living with autism, ADHD or dyslexia.

The funding will enable NEAS to introduce tailored wellbeing support for neurodivergent colleagues, recognising the increasing need for workplaces to provide inclusive environments and specialist assistance. The project will focus on improving everyday experience, reducing barriers at work and strengthening access to adjustments that help staff thrive in demanding frontline roles.

NEAS said the project is part of its wider commitment to creating an inclusive workplace and ensuring staff feel supported with the tools, understanding and psychological safety they need to perform their roles effectively.

The initiative aligns with growing national recognition that neurodivergent employees often face higher levels of stress, sensory overload and administrative pressure in fast-paced environments and that targeted support can improve retention, wellbeing and workforce confidence.

The grant forms part of NHS Charities Together’s ongoing programme to enhance health and wellbeing support for NHS staff across the UK.
