Fifty five per cent of employees say benefits package is inadequate, according to Epassi UK research

More than half of UK employees believe their workplace benefits package is inadequate, according to new research released as Epassi UK unveiled its new brand identity. Research commissioned by Epassi UK and conducted by Opinium among 2,000 UK adults found that 55 per cent of employees believe their current benefits package falls short of their needs. More than half (56 per cent) said the quality of their benefits package affects morale at work, while only 18 per cent said their employer regularly communicates with them about available benefits.
The findings highlight the ongoing challenge facing employers as they look to improve workforce health, wellbeing and engagement through employee benefits.
The research was published as Epassi UK officially launched its new brand identity following the acquisition of employee benefits technology provider Zest in 2025. The deal formed part of the group’s wider European growth strategy and ambition to become a leading technology platform for employee benefits and engagement
The launch comes against a backdrop of rising workforce health challenges. According to CIPD data cited by Epassi UK, employees take an average of nine sick days each year, while analysis from the Institute for Public Policy Research suggests the cost of employee sickness to UK businesses has increased by £30bn since 2018.
Matt Russell, chief executive of Epassi UK, said: “Good quality benefits packages can be transformative for employees and businesses alike. Not only do wellbeing benefits need to be accessible, much like modern ways of working, they must also be flexible – increasing engagement, promoting uptake and ensuring healthy habits stick.”
He added: “Epassi UK is supporting employers to help make this a reality – boosting the health of workers and businesses across the UK.”
Russell was appointed chief executive of Epassi UK following the acquisition of Zest and now leads the combined UK business.
Liliana Teixeira, marketing director at Epassi UK, said of the rebrand: “While we wanted to capture a fresh forward-looking offering to support the future of employee benefits, it’s been equally important to retain the Epassi brand’s heritage in delivering excellent wellbeing benefits over the past 23 years.”
Epassi UK supports more than 12 million employees and is part of Epassi Group, which serves more than 50,000 employers across Europe.
