Survey highlights divide in workplace wellbeing across Britain

Employers and employees have sharply different views on workplace wellbeing, according to new research from the British Safety Council.
The Keep Thriving: Future of Workplace Wellbeing survey, carried out by YouGov and involving 4,017 employers and employees across Great Britain, reveals a wide gap between best and worst practice. The findings suggest a “postcode lottery” in support, with some workers at risk of missing out on the help they need to thrive inside and outside of work.
The research found significant differences in how employers and staff view wellbeing priorities and the support needed to sustain it. Employees were also asked to rate their wellbeing at work and outside of it, and to identify which policies or interventions could have the biggest impact.
Launched in 2022, the British Safety Council’s Keep Thriving campaign aims to improve worker wellbeing across the UK by providing employers, including SMEs and microbusinesses, with access to knowledge, support and resources to build effective strategies.
The Council said that getting wellbeing right has clear benefits for staff, businesses and wider society, from higher productivity and profitability to economic growth at local and national levels.
