Work-related stress remains the chief wellbeing concern, despite rising financial pressures
For the second year running, work-related stress and anxiety are the top health concerns cited by UK employers across most age groups, according to 2025 research.

Employers report that 34 per cent of baby-boomers, 36 per cent of Gen X and 38 per cent of Gen Z face the greatest risk to their wellbeing from workplace pressures. Only millennials rank home-life concerns (43p er cent) and financial stress (42 per cent) above work anxiety (38 per cent).
Though work stress leads across all groups, employer concern has eased slightly from 2024, when figures ranged from 40 to 44p er cent. However, anxiety over finances has grown among baby-boomers (18 per cent to 25 per cent), Gen X (28 per cent to 32 per cent) and millennials (35 per cent to 42 per cent). HR professionals say the data highlight a shifting landscape: while work stress prevails, financial and domestic pressures are rising, especially among younger workers. GRiD urges employers to maintain broad, inclusive support systems that adapt to evolving needs.
