Mercer Marsh Benefits (MMB) has appointed Lorraine Roberts-Rance as its UK Workplace Health Consulting Leader as the organisation looks to expand its support for employers, healthcare providers and policymakers navigating workforce health challenges.

Based in London, Roberts-Rance takes up the role with immediate effect and will report to Neil Atkinson, Strategic Healthcare Consulting Practice Leader. She will also work closely with Nick McMenemy, Mercer Marsh Benefits UK Leader.

In her new position, Roberts-Rance will lead MMB’s UK Workplace Health Consulting team, focusing on the development of services and solutions for clients across the health and social care sector. The role will also involve collaboration with policymakers and government agencies, alongside participation in Mercer’s Global Workforce Health advisory network.

The appointment comes as workforce health continues to grow in importance, with employers facing increasing pressures linked to sickness absence, workforce shortages, retention and productivity.

Roberts-Rance brings more than 25 years of experience across the public and private healthcare sectors in both the UK and Australia. Her career has focused on workforce risk, organisational culture and the impact people-related factors have on healthcare systems and patient outcomes.

She has also spent seven years overseeing patient safety projects with NHS Trusts through a long-standing partnership with a US university hospital.

Commenting on the appointment, Atkinson said: “Lorraine brings extensive experience of helping organisations navigate complex risk environments. Having worked with a broad range of clients at senior level to design and deliver clinical risk programmes, she joins Mercer Marsh Benefits at a pivotal time for our business.

“Lorraine will play a key role in strengthening our data and advisory capabilities and supporting corporate clients in managing people risks. Alongside this, she will also expand our presence in the health and social care sector – an area where we see significant opportunity to innovate to drive improvement across healthcare outcomes.”

Roberts-Rance said: “Joining MMB at a time when health presents significant challenges and opportunities for society, feels particularly important. MMB has demonstrated an impressive commitment to this sector. The Workforce Health team have unrivalled expertise, and I look forward to taking on a leadership role at such a critical moment in the UK’s health journey.”
