British Safety Council conference to explore workplace health and wellbeing in the AI era

14 October 2025 marks the 15th Annual Conference on Workplace Health, Safety and Wellbeing, a free virtual event set to examine how artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping the world of work.
Organised by British Safety Council (BSC), the event brings together health and safety leaders, wellbeing specialists, legal experts and technology innovators to discuss the opportunities and risks of AI. Sessions will focus on how technology can improve workplace practices while safeguarding employee wellbeing.
The broad agenda covers the impact of automation, ethical use of AI in safety management, and how workplace culture can adapt to ensure inclusion and psychological safety.
A panel featuring experts from the BSC, BSI Group and the Institute for Employment Studies will examine how AI affects psychosocial health and the importance of strong wellbeing strategies.
Practical case studies will showcase how AI is already being applied across sectors to support health, safety and wellbeing, from streamlining risk management to improving access to data on hazards. Speakers from HandsHQ and the Health and Safety Executive will share lessons from early adoption.
Legal experts will also explore new risks around workplace surveillance, data privacy and employee protections. With regulation struggling to keep pace with technological change, this session is expected to provide critical updates for HR leaders and health and safety professionals.
The wellbeing dimension is a core theme throughout the day. Stephen Haynes, Wellbeing Director at the BSC, will join others in highlighting the role of leadership in protecting mental health during times of rapid transformation. Discussions will emphasise how to maintain human connection, empathy and trust while embracing digital tools.
Closing sessions will look ahead to the skills employees need to thrive in an AI-enabled world. Academics and industry leaders will debate how to support workers through change, ensuring that health, safety and wellbeing remain at the centre of the future workplace.
