Mental Wealth Index 2026: The State of Britain’s Workforce Wellbeing

All Sectors

Britain’s workforce is experiencing widespread pressure across mental health, sleep, work and finances, while many employees remain unaware of or do not access the support available to them.

Published by Wisdom Wellbeing, the Mental Wealth Index 2026, conducted with YouGov, draws on a survey of almost 2,000 UK full-time workers. It reveals that 38% report higher levels of anxiety, 48% sleep six hours or less per night and just 18.5% have ever used an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP).

Report

Understanding workforce pressures and the gap between wellbeing provision and employee support.

The report examines workforce wellbeing across mental health, physical health, work and financial pressures, highlighting differences by age, gender, income and region. It identifies inequalities in access to support, particularly among lower-paid employees, and explores why existing wellbeing services often remain underused. For employers, the findings reinforce the importance of moving beyond simply providing benefits towards improving awareness, accessibility and early intervention. The report offers practical recommendations for developing more targeted, preventative and inclusive approaches to workforce wellbeing.
